Specialises in
I specialise in gynaecology with a specific interest in urogynaecology. I have clinical and research interests in female lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) including urinary tract infections, overactive bladder (urinary urgency and urinary frequency), urinary incontinence and voiding difficulties (problems with urinary flow and bladder emptying). Alongside LUTS, I specialise in the management of vaginal prolapse. My surgical proficiencies include vaginal wall repair and continence surgery. This includes bladder and bowel repairs, vaginal hysterectomy, urethral bulking procedures, Botulinum toxin injections to the bladder and bladder neck support procedures for stress urinary incontinence.
To date I have performed over 500 surgeries to manage vaginal wall prolapse including anterior and posterior vaginal compartment surgery and vaginal hysterectomy. I offer continence procedures under both general and local anaesthetic where appropriate and see at least five patients per week in the NHS for either urethral bulking or Botulinum toxin injections to the bladder in the outpatient setting.
Following graduation from King's College London in 2005, I spent 10 years training in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology. The formative years of my training in the specialty of gynaecology and urogynaecology were in busy tertiary referral centres in Central London. I worked as a senior clinical research fellow (2012-2015) at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington investigating and publishing my research in the field of urinary tract infections.
My research, post training fellowship, and clinical interests have culminated in being recently appointed lead for urogynaecology services at East Surrey Hospital with special interests in female lower urinary tract symptoms (infections, incontinence, and voiding dysfunction) and uterovaginal prolapse.
I am a member of the internationally recognised International Continence Society (ICS) and the International Urogynaecology Association (IUGA) - renowned for showcasing and publishing cutting edge research and clinical trials in the fields of Incontinence and Urogynaecology. I am also a member of the British Society of Urogynaecology which connects a deep and broad ranging network of multidisciplinary clinicians and healthcare providers in my field across the UK.
