I am a consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust where I am the Enhanced Recovery surgical lead and audit lead. I specialise in general and colorectal surgery with a specific interest in laparoscopic bowel surgery, hernia surgery, colonoscopy and the treatment of anal fissures, fistulae and haemorrhoids. I am a JAG accredited colonoscopist. I have a particular interest in 'Enhanced Recovery', which aims to optimise patients pre- and post-operative care in order to improve their recovery following bowel surgery.
During my training I did a two year fellowship at the Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit in Guildford, where I completed an MD research project which focused on the optimisation of patient care before and after bowel surgery. I also received a nationally-awarded Ethicon laparoscopic colorectal fellowship, during which I received further specialised training in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) bowel cancer surgery.
I am South Thames Rep on the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland Council.
I am an ATLS and CCrISP instructor, training junior doctors in trauma care and management of the critically ill surgical patient.
