I am a dual fellowship trained Spine Surgeon having completed my first fellowship at Frimley Park Hospital and second at Auckland Hospital in New Zealand where I treated elite sportsmen and was awarded a highly competitive Travelling Fellowship for my studies. I am trained in the range of Adult Spinal Surgery from non-operative measures and injections through to surgery where appropriate. I understand that spinal surgery is a significant undertaking and should be reserved for those who truly require it. I have also previously served as Team Doctor for a Championship Professional Football Team and provided medical advice for television drama series. My main clinical interests are degenerative spinal disorders. My research interests include spinal balance and adult deformity, and I have published widely with numerous peer-reviewed articles and five book chapters to date. I have also been awarded several prizes for my research.
I offer adult spinal surgery including minimally and less invasive techniques and microscopic surgery where appropriate.
I sit on the Specialty Training Committee and Annual Review Panels for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex region which is responsible for training the orthopaedic surgeons of the future and am actively involved in their day-to-day training.
I am also the Orthopaedic Lead for national research projects in Trauma and Orthopaedics at my NHS base.
I regularly teach as invited faculty on several courses including for the Royal College of Surgeons as an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor and on FRCS (Tr and Orth) courses which is the final examination for orthopaedic surgeons in training.
