Enhanced Diploma Adult Nursing, BSC in Cancer Care
I worked at Lister Hospital in Stevenage on an acute medical ward for just over a year. I then went to Africa for a month to participate in Volunteer Nursing. On return from Africa I commenced my Chemotherapy training whilst working on the Macmillan Cancer Centre at Lister Hospital.
Most recently I have been working for Bupa Home Healthcare as an Oncology Homecare Nurse. This involved administering Chemotherapy and supporting people with cancer at home.
I started at Spire in Harpenden as the Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist. I have now progressed to look after all patients who have been diagnosed with a cancer here at Spire. To support me in this I am undertaking a BSc in Cancer Care at The Royal Marsden School. I work closely with the consultants from investigations through diagnosis and on through treatment. We are very lucky to have a wonderful chemotherapy unit. I also work very closely with the team there.
As part of my role I organize monthly support events and evenings to help support patients through and after treatment. We also conduct Moving Forward chats towards the end of treatment.
