Consultant Cardiologist

I have been a substantive consultant cardiologist with a subspecialist interest in coronary intervention at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for the last three years. In this role I perform weekly clinics in general cardiology and weekly sessions in the cardiac catheter laboratory treating both inpatients and outpatients. Due to the population treated, I regularly perform complex coronary intervention including calcium modification techniques and include a high yield of intracoronary imaging and physiology to ensure optimal assessment and treatment of coronary lesions.
I have also been the co-lead for undergraduate medicine at Luton and Dunstable Hospital for the last two years, organising and performing regular teaching and examinations for UCL undergraduates that we have placed with us.
I hold the position of lead for audit and clinical governance within the cardiology specialty and organise and mediate regular morbidity and mortality meetings as well as presenting regularly in our clinical audit and effectiveness committee.
I specialise in treatment of complex coronary disease including calcium modification and intravascular imaging with IVUS/OCT.
To date I have performed over 3,000 invasive coronary angiograms utilising radial access in more than 95% of cases and over 1,500 coronary interventions, also with 95% radial access. I use intracoronary physiology and or imaging in over 60% of my intervention cases. I have performed over 100 intervention cases utilising intravascular lithotripsy.
