Specialises in
Virtual consultations:
I have been a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon since 2001, based at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, and also worked across the Maxillofacial Network including Bedford Hospital and Milton Keynes General Hospital. I sub-specialise in the diagnosis and treatment in mouth cancer, working within the team in head and neck cancers.
I also have extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of patients requiring complex oral surgery outside the scope of dentist and oral surgeons in primary care. These include difficult dental extractions, impacted wisdom teeth and removal of jaw cysts. Part of my normal workload over the years has also involved the diagnosis and treatment of facial trauma and its long term complications.
I specialise in general oral and maxillofacial surgery, with special interests in the diagnosis and treatment of the mouth cancers, including pre-malignant lesions. I also carry out a large number of difficult dental extractions, removal of impacted wisdom teeth and jaw cysts. These can either be done under local or general anaesthesia.
Over the past 23 years, I have carried out removal of impacted wisdom teeth or difficult dental extractions for over 2,000 patients, with the majority requiring multiple teeth being removed and mainly under general anesthesia in private practice. A number were carried out in the NHS practice. However, nearly all the major cancer surgery was carried out in the NHS hospital due to the complexity of surgery and aftercare. This also applied to surgery after facial trauma.
In addition to clinical practice, I am an associate medical director and lead clinician in cancer services at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital. I am also the assigned educational supervisor for two higher surgical trainees in the specialty. My other leadership role is the clinical governance lead in the specialty.
