Dr Charlot Grech

Dr Charlot Grech

Consultant Dermatologist

MD, FRCP

I am a Consultant Dermatologist at Spire Alexandra Hospital in Chatham, Kent, Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood, Essex and Spire Wellesley Hospital in Southend, Essex, where I offer private dermatology consultations and treatment. My dermatology training was at the Birmingham Skin Hospital, West Midlands and Southampton University Hospitals.

I offer rapid access to diagnosis and treatment for all types of skin conditions such as eczema (dermatitis), acne, pre-cancerous lesions, skin allergies, treatment of warts, psoriasis, moles, solar keratoses, diseases of the hair and nails, allergy patch testing arranged for patients with contact dermatitis and PUVA (light) therapy arranged for patients with eczema and psoriasis.

I perform a total of over 600 excisions of benign and malignant skin lesions every year and I have a very low post-operative complication rate (below national average) with over 20 years' experience.

I was appointed as a consultant in 1998 at the Medway Maritime NHS Foundation Trust, Kent. Here I was instrumental in setting up the Melanoma Screening Clinic to fast-track patients with suspected skin cancer. Later, I joined the Basildon and Thurrock NHS Foundation Trust as clinical lead for the dermatology service at Southend University Hospital. In 2012 I returned to the Medway Trust. I am now offering my service as a full-time dermatologist in the private health sector.

I run a busy dermatology practice in Essex and Kent, liaising with GPs, consultant physicians, surgeons and pathologists for the benefit of my patients. I am keen on teaching and run regular workshops, lectures and tutorials for general practitioners in the local area.

My training in surgical dermatology has been extensive and throughout my career I have worked closely with plastic surgeons for the benefit of my patients with skin cancers. Between 2007 and 2010 I was lead for the skin cancer MDT (multidisciplinary team) in Essex and dermatology representative on the Pan-Essex cancer network team.

I welcome appropriate patients wishing to refer and pay for treatment themselves without the need for a GP letter of referral. The telephone number to book a private appointment depends on the hospital you wish to be seen at and can be found in the contact details section.
