I have been a Consultant at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust since November 2011. I have more than 22 years’ experience in Gynaecology. I treat general gynaecological conditions including vulval conditions, fibroids, amenorrhoea, pelvic pain and menopause.
I have a special interest in urogynaecology and offer a variety of procedures for stress incontinence, overactive bladder and prolapse including urethral bulking injections, Botulinum toxin treatment, colposuspension, hysterectomy, uterus-preserving surgery and repair operations. I have a particular interest in recurrent prolapse after previous prolapse surgery. I also specialise in the management of perineal birth injuries and perineal refashioning.
I offer various procedures including NovaSure endometrial ablation for heavy periods, laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery for treatment of ovarian cysts and pelvic pain, hysteroscopy and hysterectomy.
My broad experience and training has enabled me to develop expertise in the management of a range of gynaecological conditions. I have completed advanced training in urogynaecology and vaginal surgery and therefore have expertise in this area. I believe in establishing partnerships with patients and enabling them to make informed decisions about their care.
I did my basic medical training and five years of Postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in India. Subsequently, I underwent training in the North East Thames London Deanery, and worked at Colchester, Homerton, Chase Farm and Queen’s hospitals. I was awarded the MRCOG Gold Medal in 2004 by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. I completed a Masters in Minimally Invasive and Robotic surgery in 2015 from Anglia Ruskin University for which I was awarded a Distinction. I was awarded FRCOG in 2017. I am the Lead for Urogynaecology services at my Trust and have ensured that our Urogynaecology services achieved National BSUG accreditation.
I sit on various National Committees including the British Society of Urogynaecology Governance committee and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists CESR committee. I am a RCOG Examiner and Faculty member and a Specialist advisor for CQC. I am a Regional Preceptor for doctors training in Urogynaecology. I am also a peer reviewer for medical journals.
I can speak Hindi, Urdu, Marathi and Malayalam.
