  • Eyelid cyst surgery

I have 14 years of experience as an ophthalmologist, with expertise in cornea and complex cataract treatment. Aside from my clinical practice, I train ophthalmology trainees and conduct research on cataract surgery, intra-ocular lenses, refractive surgery, corneal diseases and keratoconus.

I am a qualified ophthalmologist with two additional years of training in corneal diseases and complex cataract surgeries. My expertise is in anterior segment reconstruction, complex cataract surgeries, surgical management of astigmatism and presbyopia, ocular surface disease and dry eye, YAG laser capsulotomy, keratitis, corneal dystrophies and keratoconus.

Throughout my career, I have successfully performed over 2,300 cataract surgeries, including lens-based surgeries to correct astigmatism and presbyopia to reduce the need for spectacles. Additionally, I have completed over 700 successful corneal procedures, including 200 corneal transplants and various procedures to treat ocular surface conditions such as pterygium, Salzmann nodules, persistent epithelial defects, recurrent corneal erosions, limbal stem cell deficiency and keratoconus.

I have been serving as the audit lead for the ophthalmology department at Queen's Hospital. Additionally, I have been spearheading research projects at the same hospital, with our most recent study on keratoconus. I am passionate about teaching and training, hence a clinical and educational supervisor to our North East ophthalmic trainees.

I have a great passion for clinical research. I am an invited reviewer for ophthalmology journals and have published several papers in peer-reviewed journals, many of which were presented at national and international conferences.
