I am an Orthopaedic Hip Surgeon with a specialist practice dealing exclusively in conditions in and around the hip joint.

My surgical practice is split between hip preservation procedures such as hip arthroscopy for injuries or conditions affecting young adults and hip replacement surgery (primary and revision). Whilst I deal with hip problems in patients of all ages from adolescents upwards, many of my patients are young adults wishing to return to high end activity. I have a special interest in performing uncemented hip replacements with ceramic bearings via minimally invasive soft tissue sparing approaches.

Prior to moving into full time private practice in 2023, I spent 15 years as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas‘ NHS Foundation Trust, a tertiary referral centre, developing a wealth of experience in both routine and complex hip problems. During my time at Guy’s and St Thomas’, I held several departmental and Trust clinical leadership positions and developed subspeciality services including launching a day case hip replacement surgery programme. I also set up and chaired a regional weekly multidisciplinary hip meeting to allow colleagues to discuss and plan the management of complex surgical cases including metastatic cancer.

I have multiple publications in peer reviewed journals on hip surgery and conditions around the hip and have written book chapters on uncemented hip replacements and hip conditions related to joint hypermobility.

I ran the Guy’s hip fellowship programme providing subspeciality arthroplasty and young adult hip surgical training as well as being an educational and clinical supervisor for higher surgical orthopaedic trainees. Having taught on hip arthroscopy and postgraduate examination courses and examined for postgraduate qualifications for many years, I continue to provide lectures and teaching to medical and allied health professionals.
