I am a private consultant gynaecologist at Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood, Essex, offering private gynaecology care in our clean and comfortable private hospital.
Having trained initially as a gynaecological oncologist (cancer surgery), I decided to specialise in pelvic reconstructive surgery, including operations for women suffering from pelvic prolapse and urinary incontinence. My main areas of specialisation now are minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery for pelvic prolapse, urinary incontinence and other vaginal reconstructive surgery.
At Spire Hartswood Hospital, most of these operations do not require an overnight stay. The minimally-invasive approach that I use means that my patients benefit from less pain, quicker recovery time and early return to work and daily activities. The operations I perform usually allow the uterus (womb) to be preserved in patients with uterine prolapse, thus avoiding a hysterectomy.
In my clinics at Spire Hartswood Hospital, I also provide a colposcopy service to women who have had an abnormal cervical smear test result and require further investigation.
I have travelled extensively to lecture and run surgical workshops in South America, US, Europe, India, Nepal and Hong Kong. I am experienced in training other consultants in the latest techniques for prolapse and incontinence surgery.
I was a consultant gynaecologist at Basildon University Hospital from 1992 until 2012 and was also an honorary senior lecturer at University College Hospital London.
