Spire Hartswood Hospital celebrates 40th anniversary

• The hospital is celebrating the 40^th anniversary since opening its doors to treat patients in Brentwood, Essex

Originally built in the early 1980s as a two-story building, with permission to erect a hospital with 32 beds; This later increased to 42 beds and was initially operated by Seltahart Clinics when the hospital opened for business in 1984.

Spire Hartswood Hospital has always prioritised development in both its colleagues and equipment. Just last year, the hospital installed a new £1.3m state-of-the-art CT scanner to provide fast diagnoses for both NHS and private patients. The new equipment continues to alleviate pressure on waiting lists and reduce diagnosis waiting times in the local area.

Since 2021 the hospital has been running a successful apprenticeship scheme for clinical colleagues. It is due to this investment in colleagues that many have continued working at the hospital for over 35 years.

The hospital was purchased in 2007 by Spire Healthcare and has since expanded and grown to new strengths. There are more than 280 consultants, specialists and clinicians who offer a large range of services and treatments in 29 different specialties. The teams are dedicated to delivering outstanding care to their patients.

Spire Hartswood Hospital has flourished with a total of 45 beds, an on-site physiotherapy department, oncology department, endoscopy suite, state-of-the-art imaging department and three operating theatres.

With ongoing investment in facilities, equipment and launching new services, Spire Hartswood Hospital continues to deliver quality treatment and aftercare from their expert consultants and dedicated clinical teams in a clean, comfortable environment.
