Who will do it?

Why choose Spire?

We are committed to delivering excellent individual care and customer service across our network of hospitals, clinics and specialist care centres around the UK. Our dedicated and highly trained team aim to achieve consistently excellent results. For us it's more than just treating patients, it's about looking after people.

The Scholar Cardiac Screening Programme was implemented to help minimise the risk of an athlete or player suffering from an undiagnosed heart condition. The screening programme promotes health, and encourages the overall wellbeing of players - ultimately saving lives!

As part of the FA Medical Education Centre Screening Programme, all Scholars are offered the chance to undergo Cardiac Screening. This medical screening programme is funded by the PFA and facilitated through The FA and there is no financial cost to clubs who wish to use this service. The scholar cardiac screening consists of a questionnaire, ECG and an Echocardiogram (ultrasound picture of the heart). Further it is currently recommended for an ECG and questionnaire at 18 and 20 years.

Perform carries out cardiac screening services to the 24 England teams and to youth and professional senior players up to Premier League level. It is now mandatory that every player playing in the Premier League or any UEFA competition must have at least one ECG and Echo in their medical folder.

We have multiple mobile screening units which we can bring to your club, saving valuable time and other club resources. The cardiac screening team will consist of a Clinical Physiologist and a Cardiac Technician who will perform the ECGs and Echocardiograms. Any additional screens, e.g. follow up screening of other academy players can also be included and for larger numbers, we will provide additional staff to ensure that all scans are completed on the day.  All the screens will be reviewed and reported by one of the FA Cardiology Consensus Group Consultant Cardiologists.

What are the costs?

ECG and lifestyle questionnaire are charged at £50+VAT per person if undertaken at our St. George's Park base, or £90+VAT per person for our mobile service to come to your training grounds or stadium.

For a full ECG and ECHO screen we charge £250+VAT per person for both residential and mobile services.
