I have been a Consultant in Chemical Pathology and Metabolic medicine for 10 years.

I specialise in diagnosis and management of cholesterol disorders including familial hypercholesterolaemia including genetic testing, lipoprotein a, management of cholesterol post heart attack/stent/bypass, statin side effects and intolerance and injectable treatments (PCSK9 inhibitors, Inclisiran).

I specialise in the diagnosis and management of osteoporosis, vitamin D deficiency, Paget's disease and osteomalacia. I specialise in provision of interpretive and clinical advice on biochemical tests.

I have diagnosed and managed over 1,500 new patients referred for cholesterol management including 140 patients on injectable cholesterol therapies and over 1,250 patients referred for metabolic bone disease over a 10 year period, as a Chemical Pathology Consultant in the NHS service.

My clinical interests are cholesterol management, including statin intolerance and injectable cholesterol lowering treatment, lipid disorders including inherited conditions affecting cholesterol like familial hypercholesterolaemia, cardiovascular risk assessment, osteoporosis, vitamin D deficiency and metabolic bone disease.

I am the Clinical lead for the lipid clinic and familial hypercholesterolaemia services at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and led the implementation of the familial hypercholesterolaemia genetic testing service in 2017 in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

In addition, I am a clinical tutor at Hull University and involved in post graduate training in Chemical Pathology at Yorkshire and Humber deanery. My research interests are lipid disorders, lipid lowering treatments and metabolic bone disorders. I am also the principal investigator for a multicentre cardiovascular outcome trials in Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
