I am a medical oncologist which means I specialise in treating cancer patients with medicines which include chemotherapies, immunotherapies, anticancer antibodies, targeted small molecules against cancers and hormonal (endocrine) treatments. I enjoy supporting my patients and their families, and work in partnership with them to make shared treatment decisions.
As a medical oncologist, I participate as an investigator in national clinical studies and keep myself updated with novel (newer) anticancer strategies to give my patients the best outcomes.
I have been working as a Consultant in Medical Oncology at the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust since 2015. My expertise is to treat patients suffering from breast, ovarian and prostate cancers. One of main interests is the management and research of urologic cancers and therefore my patient I am also a visiting medical oncologist at the North Lincolnshire and Goole Foundation Trust and the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust where I manage patients with lung and skin cancers including melanoma.
I am the Lead for Acute Oncology Services and Chair for Morbidity and Mortality Reviews in the Oncology Department at the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. In my hospital role, I lead multiple audits and quality improvement projects.
In addition to my clinical work, I am also proud to be an Honorary Lecturer at the Hull and York Medical School. One of my passions is the teaching and training of medical students and trainees in Internal Medicine and Oncology.
I am responsible for arranging oncology rotation for doctors in training in the Oncology and Haematology Department at the Hull University Teaching NHS Trust. In addition, my role includes clinical and educational supervision of Internal Medicine, General Practice (GP) and Oncology trainees.
I am fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi.

I have been one of the major recruiter investigator for the PATCH trial of prostate cancer and my work with other investigator is published in the Lancet journal.
My reviews and research experience with my team of investigators on the role of thromboprophylaxis in the management of cancer patients has been published in the Thrombosis Journal, Thrombosis Research and Current Opinion in Supportive and Palliative Care. I contributed to one of the biggest national audit on the management of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma which was published in the Clinical Oncology journal of the Royal College of Radiologists and in the Liver International Journal.
I have been part of research collaborators for the RECOVERY trial which gave the first approved treatment of severe COVID-19 infection and published in the New England Journal of medicine. Finally my experience on the management of very young breast cancers in Pakistan was published in the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) conference abstracts in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
I enjoy spending my spare time with my wife and two daughters and speaking with my mother on telephone who lives abroad. I love cycling and running. Recently I have developed interest in DIY and realise how much I have missed it in my life. My favourite reading weekly issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.
