I qualified at University of Edinburgh Medical School in 1990. I trained as a Houseman and Senior House Officer before becoming a Senior Registrar in Yorkshire and subsequently a Lecturer at the University of Leeds. Subsequently I spent two years at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney Australia.
I was appointed as a Consultant in Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Trust in 2000.
I am the Royal College specialty tutor and Senior Director of Clinical Studies for the HYMS Medical School. I am Co-Director of the UK Advanced Nephrology Course.
