We are dedicated to supporting our community and local primary care professionals. We aim to make the referral process as quick and simple as possible.

How to make a referral

Our Primary Care Liaison team will work closely with you, to help provide the highest level of service. Our Purpose is to make a positive difference to people’s lives through outstanding personalised care.

You can refer your private patients to Spire Hull and East Rising Hospital:

  • Online – via Spire Connect
  • Telephone
  • Email

Online referrals

Spire Connect

Spire Connect is the quickest way to make a referral. The patient e-referral portal offers a fast, easy and fully secure way for GPs, practice staff and healthcare professionals to refer patients to Spire hospitals. As well as making secure online referrals for a broad range of treatments and tests and scans, you can also:

  • Receive email confirmations – once your referral is submitted and processed
  • Access sent referral information – at any time
  • Find direct up to date contact information
  • Save time and paper – it’s environmentally friendly

You can also refer your private patients via telephone, by calling us on 01482 672 444.

Email

Alternatively, you can send us your referrals by email to spire.hullclinicappointments@nhs.net. Please note that all email referrals must be sent using a secure NHS.net email account.

  • Most insurance companies ask for a GP referral. This can be done via Spire Connect or via a secure NHS.net email
  • The patient will need to contact their medical insurance provider to check the treatment is covered and get an authorisation code
  • The patient can contact the hospital’s outpatient appointments team on 01482 672 444 for an appointment
  • Many of our consultants will accept self-referrals. Some consultants still require a referral letter due to the nature of their specialty, including neurosurgery, paediatric and psychiatry. It is also very helpful to have a primary care referral if your patient has a complex medical history. Referrals can be sent via Spire Connect or via a secure NHS.net email
  • Patients should contact the private patient’s team on 01482 672 412 or email info@spirehull.com for an appointment
  • Your patient will be advised of any further investigations or treatment options and a fixed price quote will be given for any treatment. If they do not wish to carry on their treatment privately they will be directed back to their GP
  •  We will keep you informed of your patient’s progress

NHS referrals

Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital provides elective services to NHS patients for a range of medical specialties. Full details of the services offered can be found on the NHS e-Referral Service (www.ebs.ncrs.nhs.uk).

Our aim is to make the referral process as quick and easy as possible. Please use the NHS e-Referral Service to refer your patients to us. We are no longer able to accept NHS referral letters from primary care by any other means (eg Fax or email).
