Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital colleagues raise over £700 during annual summer charity drive activities

- Local hospital consultants and colleagues took on the Beverley 20mile hike raising funds for local charities
Colleagues at Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital have raised over £700 after completing the Beverley 20 hike covering 290 kilometres during Spire Healthcare’s 2024 summer charity drive – all in aid of Dove House Hospice and Maggie’s Charity. Dove House Hospice are a local charity providing excellent care for people in the community with life limiting illnesses, providing exceptional care to them and their families. The second charity of choice, Maggie’s Charity, is set up to support people and families living with cancer. They offer practical and emotional support for anyone, with any type of cancer, at any stage, for free. They receive no government funding and rely on funds raised by their supporters.
During the multi-day event, colleagues across the business, including at Spire Healthcare’s 39 hospitals in England, Wales and Scotland, undertook a wide variety of activities including walking, cycling and running to raise money. At Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital, colleagues and consultants challenged themselves to the Beverley 20 hike, whereby they tackled the 20-mile-long route, starting at the Beverley Minster, walking their way through to Skidby, the Parkland at Risby before ambling through the picturesque Wolds ending their team hike at the Humber Bridge, achieving 180 miles between them.
Charitable donations are being accepted and can be made to Dove House and Maggie’s Charity by donating online through our JustGiving page.

It’s inspiring to see so many people giving their time to raise funds for such a wide range of excellent causes. In addition to working every day to make a positive difference to people’s lives through outstanding personalised care, we at Spire Healthcare also believe in giving back to our local communities, and making a positive contribution to society wherever we can. I am therefore incredibly proud of everyone’s support and efforts to make this year’s fundraising period so successful.”
