Cardiomemo recording is a non-invasive way of monitoring your heart's activity. It involves placing a device next to your heart whenever you feel symptoms. Wearing it will help allow your doctors to monitor your heart and diagnose any problems.
A referral letter from a consultant or GP is required before booking any diagnostic investigation.
Cardiomemo recorders are devices, about the size of a mobile phone, that record your heart's activity. They are particularly useful for patients who have intermittent symptoms that last for a minute or more as you can carry the machine around with you without any attached wires. There aren't any leads attached to your chest.
It is important to make sure you have the recorder with you at all times so you can discretely place it on bare skin on your chest when your symptoms happen.
Cardiomemo recording is usually requested by a consultant following a consultation to try and gather more information about you and any symptoms you're experiencing.
We pride ourselves on our clinical excellence, you'll be looked after by an experienced multi-disciplinary care team.

You will need a referral letter from a consultant or GP before booking any diagnostic investigation.
You will have a formal consultation with a healthcare professional. During this time you will be able to explain your medical history, symptoms and raise any concerns that you might have.
We will also discuss with you whether any further diagnostic tests, such as scans or blood tests, are needed. Any additional costs will be discussed before further tests are carried out.
We've tried to make your experience with us as easy and relaxed as possible.
For more information on visiting hours, our food, what to pack if you're staying with us, parking and all those other important practicalities, please visit our patient information pages.
Our dedicated team will also give you tailored advice to follow in the run up to your visit.
You will attend the hospital on the day of the test where your consultant or a technician will explain the procedure and how to use the recorder. They will tell you where to place the recorder on your chest and how to take a recording.
You will then return the recorder to the hospital as directed. A report will then be sent to the doctor who requested the test.
Your treatment may be adapted to meet your individual needs, so it’s important to follow your consultant’s advice. It's natural to feel anxious before hospital treatment, but knowing what to expect can help. Please raise any concerns or questions with your consultants or nurse so you feel comfortable and in control. We're here to help every step of the way.
You will be able to leave hospital after picking up and returning your cardiomemo recording device. The hospital will explain how long you need to wait before returning the recorder and the doctor who requested the test will arrange a follow-up appointment to discuss the results with you. If anything out of the ordinary is found, we offer integrated medical care.
We are committed to delivering excellent individual care and customer service across our network of hospitals, clinics and specialist care centres around the UK. Our dedicated and highly trained team aim to achieve consistently excellent results. For us it's more than just treating patients, it's about looking after people.
