MBChB, MMedSci, MD, FRCP
I specialise in the management of Type 2 diabetes and the complications of diabetes including blood glucose control, weight management in the context of diabetes, management of high blood pressure and high cholesterol in diabetes and management of diabetic foot disease.
I also specialise in the diagnosis of common general medical conditions.
During all my years as a consultant I have worked treating patients on the wards and as an emergency with a wide range of general and acute medical conditions. I am experienced in diagnosing patients who may present with many different symptoms, either treating them personally or when needed referring on to a different specialist colleague for further management.
I have been an NHS consultant since I moved to Leeds in 2001. As a Consultant at Leeds Teaching Hospitals I specialised in diabetes management running diabetes clinics at Leeds General Infirmary, Wharfedale Hospital and St James Hospital. I have a passion for helping patients with type 2 diabetes get good control of their diabetes so they can avoid complications from diabetes and live a healthy life. One of my main interests is in diabetic foot disease, in 2001 I started work in the foot service at Leeds and over time built up a nationally acclaimed diabetes foot clinic.
In 2010 I was honoured to be invited to become Clinical Champion in diabetes footcare for the Yorkshire and Humber region.Later in 2015 I moved job to work in Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust in time becoming Head of Service in Diabetes & Endocrinology, setting up a diabetes inpatient ward and helping to progress the Mid Yorkshire diabetic foot service.
