I am a Consultant Rheumatologist at Spire Leeds Hospital and was appointed as a consultant at Leeds General Infirmary in 1989. I qualified at The Royal London Hospital in 1976 and won an ARC fellowship at the bone and joint research unit for a year and then joined the rheumatology registrar rotation at the Charing Cross/Westminster hospitals. Having retired from the NHS in January 2021, I now conduct private practice only.

I have published extensively on polymyalgia rheumatica, late onset rheumatoid arthritis and Sjogrens.

In the last few years I have been an honorary secretary and an executor of the British Society for Rheumatology. I am a board member of the British Sjogrens' Society and President of the Ilkley-Otley branch of Arthritis Care.
