I am a Consultant Endocrinologist with a special interest in pituitary diseases, thyroid and adrenal diseases, osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease. I do not specialise in diabetes.
I qualified from Manchester University (MB ChB) in 1984 and did medical rotations in Manchester and Liverpool. I attained my MRCP in 1988 and came to Leeds in January 1989 as a registrar in endocrinology and general internal medicine at the Leeds General Infirmary.
Between 1990 and 1993 I was a research fellow in the department of endocrinology at Leeds General Infirmary and moved to Sheffield as a senior registrar in 1993.
My areas of research include pituitary diseases, specifically acromegaly, thyroid and adrenal disease, osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease.
I was awarded an MD in 1997 for major research into morbidity and mortality in acromegaly, and this research has informed the management of patients with acromegaly, worldwide.
I returned to Leeds in November 1997 as a consultant endocrinologist and honorary senior lecturer in medicine. Having retired from the NHS, I now conduct private practice only.

I am married with three grown up daughters. My wife is a GP in Leeds. Outside of medicine I am an avid theatre goer, middling tennis player and an enthusiastic skier.
