My special interests include corneal surgery and treatment for keratoconus with keraring and cross linking. I undertake laser phototherapeutic keratectomy for recurrent corneal erosion syndrome. Since 1993 I have specialised in refractive surgery including refractive lens surgery as well as excimer and femtosecond laser correction of spectacle error with SMILE, LASIK, LASEK and wavefront guided treatments.

I qualified from Birmingham University Medical School and the majority of my ophthalmology training was undertaken at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Hospital. I undertook a fellowship in corneal surgery and external eye disease at St Thomas' Hospital, London before being appointed as consultant ophthalmologist at St James's University Hospital, Leeds.

I was appointed Regional Director of Training for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists from 1997 – 2002.
