I am a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery at Spire Leeds Hospital.
I studied medicine in Aberdeen, following which I commenced my basic surgical training – initially in Aberdeen and subsequently spending a year studying orthopaedics in Wellington, New Zealand. I became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2005.
My higher surgical training was based in Aberdeen. During this time, I was the clinical lecturer for orthopaedics in the North of Scotland. I completed my higher surgical training in 2012 and then commenced senior fellowship posts.
My first fellowship was spent in Aberdeen, focusing on joint replacement, complex joint replacement and revision joint replacements. I also commenced novel research on ways to image cartilage.
My second fellowship brought me to Leeds, furthering my experience in joint replacement, unicompartmental knee replacement and revision joint replacement. I thoroughly enjoyed working in Leeds and was delighted to accept a consultant post at Leeds Teaching Hospitals in 2014.
