Virtual consultations:
I am an experienced consultant orthopaedic surgeon and have dealt with many complex foot and ankle elective and trauma cases from all over West Yorkshire since my appointment as an NHS consultant at Bradford Teaching Hospitals in 2004, when I also started private work. I take time to explain things thoroughly to patients in a way they understand.
I offer the very best clinical care, matching my extensive clinical experience with empathy and good communication.
Although I deal regularly with trauma to the arms and legs, my elective practice, both in the NHS and private, is purely foot and ankle. I treat any problems below the knee, from ingrowing toenails and lesser toe deformities to bunion correction and treatment of arthritis of the foot and ankle.
I have an interest in sports problems including ankle instability and ankle ligament injuries. I offer ankle ligament reconstruction and repair and I have a particular expertise in ankle arthroscopy (keyhole surgery). A number of my patients are serious runners and I have a good working relationship with podiatrists and orthotists to treat these problems non – surgically when possible. I am also now undertaking minimally invasive foot surgery in selected cases.
I qualified in medicine from St. Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College, University of London in 1991, and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1995. Following my junior surgical training in London, Kent and Surrey, I was appointed in 1997 to the six year Yorkshire Orthopaedic training rotation, based in Leeds, enabling me to qualify for my consultant post at Bradford Teaching Hospitals.
During my training I completed an AO Trauma Fellowship in Hanover, Germany and my higher sub-speciality training with the Foot and Ankle Fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. In my NHS post at Bradford I am the Haemophilia Link, Orthopaedic Child Protection Lead and Lead for Orthopaedic Undergraduate Education, and also an Honorary Senior lecturer at Leeds University School of Medicine.
