Virtual consultations:
I am a consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon who specialises in surgery related to the hip and knee. In my practice, I handle both routine and complicated joint replacement procedures. This involves replacing damaged joints with artificial ones. I also perform revision surgeries for cases where previous hip or knee replacements need to be corrected or redone. Additionally, I'm skilled in minimally invasive keyhole surgeries for the knee, as well as providing injections for both the hip and knee joints to alleviate pain and improve function.
My expertise covers a wide range of hip surgeries, including the use of ceramic bearings and the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing technique which is particularly beneficial for younger patients. I also have a particular focus on partial, unicompartmental knee replacement, which involves replacing only the damaged part of the knee joint. Moreover, I am experienced in utilising cartilage repair techniques for young, active adults who have cartilage damage in their joints.
My specialisation lies in computer navigated knee replacement for cases involving knee joint deformities. I excel in complex joint reconstruction and offer personalised patient specific PSI knee replacement surgery. Recently, I've undergone specialised training in robotic joint replacement surgery, utilising the Mako system.
I studied medicine at Semmelweis University Medical School in Budapest, Hungary. Following that, I completed both my basic and advanced surgical training there. In 2004, I achieved the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, and in 2005, I was registered as a specialist. I have pursued several specialised fellowships to enhance my skills. I focused on lower limb arthroplasty and trauma in Bradford, gained experience in spinal surgery at queens medical centre in Nottingham, Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital Oswestry, and also trained with the spinal foundation in Rochdale.
In my role at Barnsley General Hospital within the NHS, I serve as a specialist hip and knee arthroplasty surgeon. My focus extends to handling intricate revision cases.
To maintain the highest quality standards, I ensure that all my joint replacement procedures are documented in the National Joint Registry. This allows my surgical outcomes to be reviewed online. Furthermore, I actively gather patient feedback on the Doctify website, which is available for anyone to view.
