As a respected Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in the surgical treatment of painful conditions of the hip and knee, I bring a wealth of experience and expertise to my patients. With a career spanning prestigious institutions across the UK and Canada, I am known for my commitment to delivering high standards of patient care.
I am proud to offer VELYS™ robotic-assisted solution, adding a new level of precision and accuracy for total knee replacement surgery.
I completed my pre-clinical training at St Andrew's University Medical School, laying a solid foundation for my future in orthopaedics. Following this, I embarked on a year of practice as a junior doctor at Manchester Royal Infirmary. Eager to pursue my passion for surgery, I underwent basic surgical training in London, culminating in my membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1998. My pursuit of knowledge and innovation led me to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore, where I immersed myself in research into stimulating bone growth from stem cells.
Determined to further hone my skills, I pursued advanced degrees, earning both an MSc and MD from University College London. I then pursued specialist orthopaedic training in Edinburgh, solidifying my expertise in trauma and orthopaedic surgery.
In 2006, I was recognised as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. I embarked on a transformative fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Allan Gross at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, delving into complex revision hip and knee replacement surgery and the treatment of infected joint replacements. In 2009, I was appointed as a Consultant in Orthopaedics and Trauma in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
My contributions extend beyond the operating room. In 2021, I was appointed as the Clinical Director of the Trauma and Related Services Clinical Services Unit, overseeing multidisciplinary teams encompassing plastic surgery, vascular surgery, and orthopaedic surgery.
As a researcher, I have authored numerous orthopaedic articles and book chapters, and my research work has been presented at national and international meetings. I am also dedicated to shaping the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons, contributing to the clinical teaching program for Leeds University medical students undertaking orthopaedics in their final year of training.Â
