Specialises in
Virtual consultations:
I have been a teaching hospital consultant ENT surgeon for over 20 years and have vast experience of diagnosing and treating problems and diseases of the ear, nose and throat in both adults and children. I receive many referrals from other consultants and colleagues and provide specialist regional opinions and services especially for difficult paediatric ENT problems.
I deal with most problems of the ear, nose, throat and neck. This includes nasal blockage, septoplasty, rhinitis, sinusitis, balloon sinuplasty, nasal polyps, nose bleeds, closed rhinoplasty, functional septorhinoplasty, minimally invasive ENT surgery, FESS sinus surgery. I also treat allergy treatment, hearing loss, balance and vertigo, tinnitus, deafness, hearing tests, grommets, middle ear microscopic surgery, myringoplasty, tympanoplasty and mastoid surgery. Throat conditions include tonsillectomy, snoring treatments, tongue tie, throat and voice problems, salivary gland problems.
I see and treat more children than most ENT surgeons because of my specialist children’s skills and the regional services I provide. I am one of the busiest surgeons in the region with over 30 years of practical and academic experience. NHS and private audit shows minimal complication rates and I keep up-to-date with continuing medial education and research.
Previously I have led the Leeds ENT department as lead clinician twice, and as clinical director. Currently my energy is directed solely to clinical work.
I have trained in both the UK and the USA and spent time in research posts. I pride myself on giving comprehensive but straight forward explanations of problems and treatment options. Although an experienced and skilled surgeon many ENT complaints can be treated medically. Only by listening to the patients’ history and undertaking appropriate examinations and investigations can the best treatment plans be advised.

I am married with children, who have mostly grown up so it allows me some time to indulge in my hobbies. I have always been a practical dexterous person and enjoy woodwork, furniture making and repair, and all varieties of DIY. I have a great passion for sailing and have owned various dinghies and yachts. I enjoy sailing, racing and all aspects of boat maintenance. I think I have now given up golf for good! I enjoy walking especially with the dog.
