MBB, BSc, FRCP
I am a Consultant Dermatologist with vast experience of 30 years in managing a wide range of complex skin conditions. On completion of my medical training from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, I decided to specialise in skin diseases. After working as a specialist registrar in several hospitals in the West Midlands and completing my specialist training in 2001, I worked as a consultant dermatologist and trainer at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire for 22 years.
My interests include skin surgery and skin cancer. I was instrumental in setting up the skin cancer multidisciplinary team, served as the first chair of the MDT and was the skin cancer lead for the University Hospital. I have published widely in medical journals and written book chapters. I am enthusiastic in teaching, training and examining medical students, junior doctors, registrars, general practitioners and nurses. I established a national surgical training workshop for new dermatology specialist registrars at the West Midlands Surgical training centre in Coventry.
I am passionate about providing the best possible care to patients under my care and ensuring an excellent level of training for future doctors and dermatologists.
I deal with the following in my NHS practice and in my private practice: Skin cancer and skin surgery, including diagnosis and management of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, actinic keratosis, Bowen's disease, excision of skin lesions, skin lumps, bumps, moles, mole check and dermoscopy, skin tags, cysts, warts, cryotherapy, seborrheic keratosis, photodynamic therapy, acne, spots, rosacea, eczema, skin rashes, connective tissue diseases, vasculitis, allergy, contact allergy, patch testing, urticaria, hives; itching; psoriasis; alopecia, hair loss, folliculitis, nail problems, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating); keloid scars; cryotherapy; skin rashes; skin infections and fungal infections.
I have been a consultant dermatologist for 22 years with a total dermatology experience of over 30 years in various capacity and in various settings. Most of my time has been spent in university teaching departments in an environment of education, research, training and excellence. I have been a practising dermatologist throughout this period and have also worked in the private sector ever since I became a consultant.
