Dr Murray Martin

Consultant Haematologist

MB BCh BAO FRCP FRCPath

My undergraduate training finished at Queen's University Belfast in 1997 and I completed my postgraduate medical training in Belfast's teaching hospitals.

I moved to Leicester in 2003, completing my higher specialist training in 2008, including one year of a clinical fellowship in Bone Marrow Transplantation which is my main area of clinical practice. As a transplant doctor I have an interest and expertise in all areas of haemato-oncology, managing patients with a variety of malignant haematological conditions, including lymphomas, leukaemias, myelodysplasia, multiple myeloma and myeloproliferative disorders.

In 2009 I was appointed consultant haematologist with a special interest in acute leukaemias and Bone Marrow Transplantation. I am the clinical director of the Stem Cell Collection Facility and clinical apheresis service and the deputy lead of chemotherapy services for the Trust.

Consultant Haematologist, University Hospitals of Leicester.

I am married to Louise, a nurse and Health Visitor. We have two young boys trying to be teenagers much too quickly whose sporting and extracurricular activities tend to take up most of our spare time. We are season ticket holders at both Leicester City Football Club and the Leicester Tigers and now have passionate links to these teams! I am the vice-president of a local cricket club but thankfully for all concerned have not tried to play again. I enjoy all sports, still can play the piano (just about) and have an interest in all types of music but cling mostly to my youthful love of rock.

Dr Murray Martin acts as haematological advisor to Spire Leicester Hospital and is paid £7,210 per annum to act in this role. The role includes providing a professional clinical opinion as required to support Haematology treatment protocols within Spire Leicester.
