I am a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist at University Hospital of Leicester NHS Trust. I completed medical graduation from Medical College, Bengal, the prestigious oldest existing hospital in Asia, established in 1835 by Lord William Bentinck during the British Colony in India and then had further post-graduate training in Child Health in India.
I completed higher specialist training in Paediatrics under the North London Deanery and Paediatric subspecialty training in Paediatric Neurology in Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London and the National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy (NCYPE) under the London Deanery.
I achieved dedicated training in Complex Epilepsy, managing epilepsy with Ketogenic Diet. I had further dedicated training in Paediatric Stroke and Neurovascular Disorders in Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. I joined as a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist in Leicester in East Midlands in 2015 after a tenure as a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist in the Institute of Neurosciences in Kolkata India from 2010-2014.
I lead the Ketogenic diet service for Refractory Epilepsy in University Hospital of Leicester. Myself along with Paediatric Ophthalmologists are jointly leading the Neuro-Ophthalmology service in children in Leicester. I also have a special interest in Demyelinating disorders in children (including Optic Neurtis, ADEM, MS).
I am a member of the British Paediatric Neurology Association (BPNA); member of International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) British Chapter and Epilepsy Action UK. I am also a member of TREAT-NMD, a network for the neuromuscular disorders. I am a member of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics in the UK chapter. I completed a diploma in Interpretation of EEG under European Epilepsy Academy (EUREPA - Germany). I have several publications, in Paediatric Stroke, Neuro-genetic disorders and Mitochondrial disorders in children. Additionally, I contribute actively to research in Paediatric Epilepsy.
I am an examiner for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and for assessment of International Medical Graduates in the UK. I am also involved in teaching medical students for Leicester Medical School.
