Mr Nicholas Eastley

Consultant Orthopaedic/Sarcoma Surgeon

MBChB, BMedSci, FRCS (Orth), PhD

I was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic and Sarcoma surgeon at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and the East Midlands Sarcoma Service in 2023.

I graduated from The University of Sheffield of Medical School in 2008, and completed a Bachelor of Medical Science (BMedSci, 1st Class hons) in the same year. Following this I completed my basic surgical training in Bristol, before completing my specialist orthopaedic training in the East Midlands. At completion of this training I was awarded the 'Prof Joe Harper Memorial Plate', awarded by the regional consultant body to the outstanding trainee in their cohort.

In 2021 I completed a one year fellowship specialising in Sarcoma and Musculoskeletal tumours at the internationally renowned Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham (UK). Following this, I undertook a further one year fellowship in the same field at the acclaimed Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto (Canada).

I have a keen interest in research. In 2019 I completed a PhD in the Genetics of Sarcoma for which I was awarded peer reviewed fellowships from the Medical Research Council, the Rosetrees Trust, and the Royal College of Surgeons. I continue to publish research on a regular basis, and have written several book chapters on a range of topics. I currently hold an Honorary Lecturer post at The University of Leicester, which is offered to individuals that provide a significant, regular research contribution to the University.

I have a wide experience in the surgical treatment of musculoskeletal tumours. These include benign conditions, such as Lipomas, and malignant (cancerous) conditions including metastatic bone disease and sarcoma. I also have experience in a range of hip and knee conditions, and perform hip and knee replacements on a regular basis for both arthritis and oncological conditions.
