Virtual consultations:
I am an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in conditions affecting the lower limb. This encompasses issues from all age groups and of various causes. I have a keen interest in sports-related, or soft tissue issues affecting the knee, hip and ankle. Having worked in professional sport for over 10 years, I am closely attuned to the requirements of athletes and those demanding the most from their bodies. I also treat degenerative conditions of the knee which includes non-operative management, osteotomies around the knee and partial or total knee replacement.
Given my experience I consider myself an adept surgeon to deliver complex ligament, tendon and joint preservation surgery to patients. This includes knee ligament reconstruction, meniscal surgery, modern cartilage regeneration techniques, hip arthroscopy and tendon surgery. Having worked within professional sports, and treated many elite athletes, I believe I can get people back to their physical best.
I am Leicestershire born and raised, and attended Leicester Medical School. Following which I completed a Masters in Surgery from the University of Edinburgh and am a Member of Faculty of the Sports & Exercise Medicine. Following my higher specialist training in the East Midlands I moved to Perth (Western Australia) for a sub-specialty fellowships in knee and sports surgery. I then took up a Consultant post in a Major Trauma Centre in Perth before eventually returning home to Leicester in 2022.
I have a consultant position within the University Hospitals of Leicester across both the Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital. I am currently the Head of Service for Trauma for the University Hospitals of Leicester. Across the NHS I have dedicated knee trauma and paediatric knee clinics in order for me to deliver sub-specialty care. Within the NHS I am a trainer for future orthopaedic surgeons being heavily involved in our regional training programme and was awarded Trainer of the Year in 2023.
I am a keen academic with over 40 peer-reviewed publications within orthopaedics. I practice evidence-based medicine in all patient encounters and enjoy driving innovative care. This includes setting up local NHS pathways for day-case joint replacements; patella dislocations and sports injuries.
Please note that I also perform day case knee replacements.

I am happily married to Sarah and we work diligently to raise our two boys with good values. I enjoy physical activity including running, cycling, football and golf (badly I might add!). On most weekends I can be found coaching my son’s football team and driving him round to all ends of Leicestershire for matches!
