I am a highly qualified fellowship-trained expert in all problems relating to the foot and ankle and have a busy NHS and private practice in the East Midlands and surrounding areas. I specialise in foot and ankle problems, including bunions/hallux valgus, big toe arthritis, complex deformity corrections, arthritis surgery, fusion (arthrodesis) and joint replacement - predominantly big toe joint and ankle replacement.
I regularly see and treat patients with sports related foot and ankle conditions such as Achilles tendon disorders, plantar fasciitis, stress fractures, ankle instability and shin splints. I use modern techniques including keyhole surgery such as arthroscopy and non-invasive techniques such as Shockwave therapy whenever appropriate.
I have performed hundreds of hallux valgus (bunion) operations and many other foot and ankle procedures in both the NHS and private practice. These include fusion (arthrodesis) of foot and ankle joints, tendon and ligament repairs and reconstructions, deformity correction procedures, cartilage repairs and joint replacements.
I am very keen on academics including research, audit and teaching and am actively involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. I am regularly invited as a faculty member to national and international courses and conferences. I have been chosen as an 'academic champion' by University of Leicester and been conferred the title of an honorary fellow. I am chief investigator for studies on ankle fractures and Achilles tendon and am Principal Investigator for a number of multi-centre studies.
In addition to my clinical work, I’m a key figure in orthopaedic education and research. I serve as the Honorary Secretary of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS), where I plays a pivotal role in shaping the direction of foot and ankle surgery in the UK, having previously chaired the Scientific Committee for BOFAS, I held the James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership identifying the top 10 research priorities in foot and ankle conditions. My leadership extends to the British Indian Orthopaedic Society, where I chair the research committee.
I’m committed to advancing medical research, particularly in foot and ankle surgery. I’m the Chief Investigator for numerous outcome studies focusing on ankle fractures, Achilles tendon injuries, Morton's neuroma, and other related conditions. My involvement in multi-centre national studies has contributed significantly to shaping best practices in foot and ankle care. I have been recognised for my contributions to research with several prestigious national and international awards, including the European Foot and Ankle Society's Presidential Award.
My research and clinical expertise are widely recognized through my prolific publications. I have authored over 90 articles in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and contributed to major textbooks, including the AO Manual of Fracture Management, focusing on foot and ankle trauma. As Editor-in-Chief of the BOFAS Bulletin, Foot Print, and Deputy Editor of the Journal of Clinical Orthopaedics and Trauma, I continue to shape the future of orthopaedic literature. I also serve on the editorial boards of several esteemed orthopaedic journals.
