My clinical practice includes acute general medicine and all aspects of infection including skin and soft tissue infections, chest and urinary tract infections, meningitis/septicaemia, TB, hepatitis, HIV post viral fatigue and travel/tropical medicine.

I qualified from Oxford University in 1982 and trained at the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford, University Hospital, Queen's Medical Centre Nottingham, The Regional Department of Infection and Tropical Medicine in Manchester and the University of Leicester as a Wellcome Trust Fellow.

I published an MD thesis on respiratory virus infections and a PhD thesis on E.coli adhesins.

I was appointed Consultant in General Medicine and Infectious Diseases at Leicester Royal Infirmary in 1992 and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester.

My current clinical and research interests include respiratory virus infections, meningitis, antimicrobial and antiviral chemotherapy, hepatitis C and HIV infection. I have become increasingly involved in medico-legal medicine and am on the Register of Expert Witnesses.
