Cancer Care at Spire Leicester Hospital
“I was diagnosed with multiple Myeloma in March 2013. I was already in the care of Dr Mamta Garg, Consultant Haematologist, and she has continued to be responsible for my treatment over the last five years. My treatment has been varied in its nature and its intensity, including chemotherapy, a stem cell transplant, maintenance treatment and a new treatment regime following a relapse. These have all presented challenges and many testing experiences.
"Dr Garg’s professional experience and medical knowledge gives me great confidence in her. Dr Garg has a warm personality and provides the most informed and supportive care possible. She developed a personal empathy, providing treatment and care tailored to my individual needs. She is a superb communicator, operating through several channels of communication.
"At every stage of my treatment I have always left a consultation with Dr Garg feeling fully informed, greatly encouraged, and feeling optimistic with my spirits greatly lifted.
"Dr Garg encouraged me to read widely about my condition and we have jointly explored research papers on Myeloma, a few of which I managed to source. This has provided a joint experience beyond that of my treatment.
"The support and care provided by the nursing team in the Chemotherapy and Daycare Suite is excellent. It is wonderful to be treated by such expert and experienced nursing staff. As well as delivering treatment in a very professional manner, they anticipate and meet every need. I have great admiration for them.
"I couldn’t be in better hands.”
