If your child is struggling with a health condition, you can choose to see a consultant privately at Spire Healthcare. Our hospitals work together to offer a full range of paediatric services from initial consultation and diagnosis through to treatment and surgery.

We offer private children’s services for babies, children and young people, providing specialist advice, diagnosis and treatment from our team of Paediatric consultants, supported by our dedicated team of highly experienced and caring specialist children’s nurses.

We offer outpatient consultations for babies and children of any age and surgical treatment to children aged 3 and over and our physiotherapists treat musculoskeletal problems in children from the age of 12 years and up.

Meet the team

Our Paediatric care covers a broad range of specialties with access to over 40 consultants who provide healthcare for children. Search our paediatric consultants

Our specialist children’s nurses understand both the importance to parents and children of being ‘listened to’ and the difference that delivering the appropriate clinical care to children in an environment which is tailored for children can make.

Accessing our services

Most of the children we see here are referred to us from their GP, but you can also book an outpatient appointment by contacting us directly. Opting for private care does not limit access to NHS care in the future.

We also have a team of private GPs who see children here for a private GP appointment if you feel you need the time to talk through any general concerns about your child’s health. Our private GPs can refer your child on a to a specialist consultant where it's appropriate.

For self-pay patients, inclusive care packages are available which gives parents peace of mind knowing that their child’s care is paid for before they come into hospital for their procedure.

If you have private medical insurance, simply visit your GP and ask them to refer you to the appropriate consultant who practises at Spire Leicester hospital. Your GP will write a letter of referral and then either you or your GP can contact us to arrange your first appointment. Your insurance company may require your GP to complete some sections of a claim form. Your GP might make a nominal charge for this service.

During an initial consultation with a paediatric specialist, you and your child will talk through your child’s symptoms with the consultant and any necessary investigations and treatment plans will also be discussed.

Our rooms

Each of the hospital’s private rooms has en-suite facilities and a TV and is specially prepared for a child’s admission to make the room feel as homely as possible. Beds are made up with colourful bedding and quilt covers, and a range of age appropriate toys are made available for children to occupy themselves with while in hospital.

Coming into hospital

If your child is coming into Spire Leicester Hospital for surgery, we’ll invite you to bring them for a pre-admission visit. You will meet some of the team who will be looking after your child, and the visit will help them to feel more familiar with the hospital when they return for their actual admission. We are always pleased to arrange for you to stay overnight in your child's room.

On the ward, your child will be cared for by our team of children's nurses. The staff who look after your child in the operating theatre and recovery room have all received additional training in the care of children.

Safeguarding children and adults

All healthcare staff have a duty to recognise and respond to safeguarding children or adults issues. Safeguarding is a range of activities from promoting health and wellbeing to protection from harm.
