I am a registered NHS GP with Sutton Coldfield Group Practice, which includes the following practices; Ley Hill, Four Oaks, Vesey, Tudor, Sutton Park, and Falcon. If you are registered with one of these practices, please select another Private GP to see you, I cannot see patients from my registered NHS practice.
After qualifying from the University of Birmingham in 1994 I completed my GP training locally and I have been a GP in Sutton Coldfield for over 20 years. I enjoy the challenge of managing a broad spectrum of medical problems, that arise throughout our lives. In addition to managing acute problems, I have developed a particular interest in the long term conditions such as; diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. Furthermore, I believe prevention is often better than cure and I have experience in providing appropriate lifestyle advice to reduce the risks of developing long term medical illnesses.
My additional roles include training our future general practitioners where I am focused on teaching the important skills of communication and making patients the centre of all of our clinical decisions.
I am the GP representative of the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) at Spire Little Aston. In this role, I provide a GP perspective on the issues that affect administration staff, clinicians and patients at this hospital.
In addition to my clinical work, I am also proud to be a training programme director for Health Education West Midlands. In this role, I help educate and train both GP trainers and GP trainees in the North Birmingham region.
My combined clinical and teaching experience has also enabled me to take on other important roles. I have mentored and supported GPs and practices that have developmental needs in Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
I have also travelled to China on several occasions working with Peking University in Beijing and Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou. I have helped run conferences and training programmes to help both these universities develop GP training programmes in China.

I enjoy spending time with my wife and two daughters especially travelling, we have recently visited Jordan, Turkey and India. We also enjoy cooking together and then exercising off those extra calories. We particularly enjoy walking in the Lake District where we have spent many wonderful (and sometimes wet) holidays.
