I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialist expertise in all aspects of knee surgery including sports injuries and degenerative conditions. I have a particular interest in robotic surgery and joint preservation techniques including cartilage repair, ligament reconstruction, knee cap stabilisation and osteotomy surgery. I am a strong proponent of partial knee replacement surgery which forms a large part of my practice in addition to total and redo knee replacement procedures.
As a surgeon, I feel it is important to recognise that patient expectations from their knee problems may go far beyond that of just pain and symptom control to include many recreational and sporting activities which are unique. It is the challenge of meeting such expectations that drives my passion for providing patient-centric and individualised treatment options for my patients.
As a senior knee fellow, I trained for a year at University College London Hospital under the supervision of Prof Fares Haddad who is one of the foremost authorities on robotic lower limb surgery in England. During this time I gained extensive experience in the use of the MAKO robot for both partial and full knee replacements in addition to ‘keyhole’ and ligament reconstruction surgery. My training in the use of this technology enables me to offer truly personalised and bespoke surgical solutions using contemporary kinematic alignment techniques and implants in the care of my patients.
I subsequently undertook a year-long international fellowship at the University of Toronto where I gained high volume experience in the management of knee cap problems, joint preservation surgery using osteotomy and redo joint replacements. On my return, I completed my final fellowship training at Southampton University Hospital where I learnt contemporary cartilage repair and ligament reconstruction techniques with wider experience of partial knee replacements. This experience has enabled me to offer individualised surgical options for sports injuries such as the use of all-inside ACL reconstruction techniques and the use of quadriceps tendon grafts for high-level athletes. I have a keen interest in technological aids to improve outcome and frequently use 3D-printed technology in achieving accuracy for osteotomy surgery.
I believe that engaging in research is integral in ensuring that I can offer the best possible treatment for my patients. With over 40 peer-reviewed publications and over 50 international presentations, I am currently responsible for multiple clinical research projects and strategic oversight of all research activity as the Director of Research and Development for the entire Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.
I am intimately involved with teaching and am a faculty member for the Orthopaedics MSc program at University College London where I regularly supervise postgraduate students for their Master's Thesis.

I enjoy spending time with my wife and three sons in my spare time and have a particular interest in cooking. Recently, I have been trying to emulate cooking techniques of street food from the far east. I am nearly always the designated chef for the Christmas dinner when all the families get together!
