As a consultant neurosurgeon and spinal surgeon, I specialise in treating various spinal disorders, such as back pain, neck pain, sciatica, and hydrocephalus. In addition, I also treat brain tumours and head injuries. My expertise in spinal surgery includes the latest techniques and keyhole approaches, and I offer a range of procedures such as lumbar decompression, spinal fusion, and minimally invasive surgeries. I am committed to providing pain management solutions that meet the unique needs of each patient.
In my NHS practice at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, I have pioneered minimally invasive spinal surgery, introducing innovative surgical techniques and technologies to improve patient outcomes.
I obtained my MBBS medical degree from the Royal Free and University College Medical School. During this time, I also obtained a BSc (Hons) in Neuroscience from UCL. Following my undergraduate training, I undertook my neurosurgical residency on the prestigious North and South Thames London rotation, obtaining the FRCS (Neuro Surg) and gaining surgical experience at multiple centres of excellence. Following my neurosurgery residency, I completed two internationally renowned complex spine fellowships at the Royal London Hospital and Guys and St. Thomas’ NHS Trust. These fellowships included both orthopaedic and neurosurgical experience, ensuring I obtained comprehensive complex spinal surgery training.
I have a strong academic interest and have published widely in international journals. I was awarded an MPhil at The University of Cambridge in 2017, where I was the top-ranked candidate, earning funding from the Medical Research Council (MRC). I have presented my research at national and international conferences, winning multiple prizes for my work.
In addition, I have a keen interest in the education and training of medical students and neurosurgical/spinal trainees. I have held the position of education lead during my tenure on the British Association of Spinal Surgeons (BASS) trainee committee. I also organise lectures with international leaders in spine surgery through my global professional network.
I have a strong focus on clinical outcome analysis and patient feedback. I work within the framework of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that patients are provided with all treatment options, including both non-operative and operative interventions, for all spinal conditions. I believe in a holistic approach to patient care and treat every patient with respect, compassion, and empathy.
