"Spire Hospitals provide me with excellent support and facilities to achieve my goals of high quality and safe care in Gynaecology."
I have 20 years of experience in gynaecology and have worked as a Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist in Birmingham for the past 10 years. I received my surgical oncology training in Indianapolis (USA), and at the St Bartholomew's Hospital and The Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
I have special expertise in the management of ovarian cysts, period problems, postmenopausal bleeding, HPV infection and abnormal smears. I am an accredited colposcopist and I also counsel patients on gynaecological cancer genetic risks. I received special training in laparoscopic gynaecological surgery, ovarian cancer surgery and exenterative surgery for gynaecological cancers. I have outstanding skills in managing patients with benign ovarian cysts, cervical cancer, uterine cancer and ovarian cancer. I am lead surgeon of the Gynaecological Cancer Centre in Birmingham and founder of the Women's Cancer Clinic.
I am an expert of minimal invasive (laparoscopic) surgery for ovarian cysts and other benign and cancerous gynaecological problems. I routinely perform laparoscopic day case hysterectomies for benign and cancer conditions, laparoscopic radical hysterectomies for cervical cancer. I am one of the few experts in the UK who have extensive experience in fertility-sparing surgery for cervical cancer, and I perform laparoscopic radical trachelectomy. I have an outstanding track record in ovarian cancer surgery, and I perform operations of all ranges, including ovarian cyst removal, total hysterectomy and ultra-radical ovarian cancer debulking surgery.
I am the risk lead for the Pan-Birmingham Gynaecological Cancer Centre and am tasked to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
I am a member of the Clinical Advisory Panel of 'Target Ovarian Cancer' and assist the charity with their communication with patients.
I am a regular reviewer for the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
