Formerly serving as the Lead Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at the renowned Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, I possess extensive expertise in the field of breast disease, encompassing breast cancer surgery, breast-related issues, as well as cosmetic breast surgery. As an Oncoplastic Surgeon, my approach combines the principles of plastic surgery with breast cancer surgery to optimise both the preservation of aesthetic outcomes and the control of the disease.
My professional journey includes the completion of the prestigious National Oncoplastic Fellowship, which I pursued under the guidance of Plastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgeons. This highly esteemed fellowship, recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC), was conducted at the largest screening breast unit in the United Kingdom, solidifying my skills and knowledge in the field.
Furthermore, I have had the privilege of training at esteemed international institutions, including Harvard Medical School and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, USA, Institute Curie in Paris, France, as well as The Christie and UHSM in the United Kingdom. In recognition of my academic achievements, I was honoured with the Ronald Raven Award from the Royal College of Surgeons and achieved the highest marks in the European Breast Surgery exams held in Austria. Additionally, I have obtained the Cosmetic Surgery Certification awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
My research pursuits encompass a focus on risk-reducing surgery and familial breast cancer. I have obtained a research doctorate (MD) by delving into the topic of Contralateral Breast Cancer in high-risk patients, including those carrying the BRCA1/2 gene mutations. The results of my studies have been disseminated through publications and presentations at national and international conferences. Alongside my clinical practice, I actively engage in training activities, imparting my knowledge to plastic and breast surgeons at both national and local levels.
