Spire awarded Police Mutual contract to support the police family

Spire Little Aston Hospital in Sutton Coldfield, near Birmingham, is one of three companies to have been selected as a supplier to a framework agreement with Police Mutual, the not-for-profit financial services organisation, to provide private healthcare services to Police Officers, Police Staff and their families nationwide for the next three years.

Police Mutual, is more than 150 years old and with no shareholders is run for the benefit of its members on a not-for-profit basis. It offers the largest independent health scheme within the Police service which, for an annual contribution, provides members with benefits and treatments that are not readily accessible on the NHS. The scheme started life in the West Midlands in 1979 and although it is now available across the UK, 40% of members are still based in the region.

This week Andy Elkington, Group Sales and Marketing Director of Police Mutual, said: “Our focus on improving the lives of those who protect us is our way of showing support for what members of the Police do.  We were very impressed with what Spire had to offer and are delighted to have them on board as health partners.”

For Spire Healthcare, Richard Foulkes, Spire Little Aston’s Hospital Director, said: “We are delighted to be involved with Police Mutual in what is a long-standing and very successful healthcare scheme. We are very proud that they have decided we could provide the quality of care that such a scheme demands and I am certain we will be able to give them the sort of services they are looking for.” 

Spire South Bank in Worcester and Spire Parkway in Solihull will also be involved in providing services to the scheme.
