What our patients have to say
“The Longmoor clinic staff are so wonderful and warm. Efficient and made to feel very relaxed and at ease.”
“My experience was excellent. The staff were amazing! Made you feel very welcomed, they were warm and friendly. Can't fault them in the slightest! The staff were brilliant with my 3 girls, gave them colours and let them be kids. Amazing team!”
“I attended an open evening on 29 March with Mr Calladine on eye surgery. The evening provided me with detailed explanations of procedures available for eye conditions, clearly explaining what could be achieved. I then had a consultation with Mr Calladine, he outlined the condition of my eyes. I was long sighted, had astigmatism, and cataracts in both eyes - also extremely dry eyes. I wore multi focal hard contact lens and had glasses with high prescription of +8 and +9 in right eye. The condition of my eyes affected the quality of my life. I frequently damaged the cornea with wearing contact lens, and my glasses with such a high prescription were very uncomfortable and heavy. He gave me confidence to have surgery, and set expectations. I had surgery the following week for lens replacement on the weakest, the right eye. The next day the result astounded me, for the first time in my life I had nearly perfect vision in the eye. I looked forward to having the left done, three weeks later, and again the result was amazing. I am now free of glasses and contact lens. The operation itself was no longer than 20 minutes under local anaesthetic. I had toric type anti-astigmatic intraocular lens. I felt no pain or discomfort. I am extremely grateful and full of admiration at the skill and expertise of Mr Calladine. This was one of the best decisions I have made in life, good vision is priceless and that is what I now have. Mr Calladine had also been recommended to me by my GP, who had heard of the excellent work and results he was achieving in eye surgery. Also thanks to the excellent nursing staff who have been reassuring, friendly and easy to access.”
“I would like to thank Mr M Shah for the surgery he did on my shoulder and the decision to go for the ortho space balloon instead of a shoulder replacement. In my consultation with Mr Shah at Spire Little Aston hospital, he told me that he had begun performing this method of surgery and on his advice I chose the balloon. I am glad I did, 10 weeks after surgery and physiotherapy I was back playing golf thanks to Mr Shah and his team.”
“I damaged my right shoulder to the extent that it left me with practically no rota cuff. It transpired not to be repairable and therefore the only way forward at that point ‘appeared’ to be a shoulder replacement. I requested that my GP refer me to Mr Munawar Shah, Orthopaedic Surgeon, as I had heard and read of his special interest in the upper limb area. Mr Shah offered me the opportunity to try a relatively new technique that he had introduced to Walsall that involved the insertion of a Subacromial Space Balloon into the shoulder. It has now been sixteen months since the procedure and I’m pleased to report that for the last year I have been pain free, with a full range of movement and almost normal strength. I’m working full time and able once again to pursue and enjoy my hobbies- one of which is DIY. I have no doubt that this is all due to the skill of the surgeon. His interception, knowledge and ability to try new techniques saved me form a premature shoulder replacement. Mr Shah is a very approachable man and explains clearly what to expect and what will happen along the way. I would have no hesitation in recommending him as an orthopaedic surgeon.”
“About 2 – 3 years ago I noticed a mole on my shoulder. I didn’t like the look of it as it was dark and had appeared from just a tiny speck of a mole I went to my GP and was told it was okay, but to monitor it. I would ask for someone to look at it if I ever went to my doctor for something, and was given the same diagnosis. In the end I decided to have a second opinion, and asked for a referral letter to Spire in Little Aston. When I had my first appointment with Mr Goulding, he immediately told me I needed a biopsy as he was concerned about the size and shape of the mole. Thank goodness he dealt with it so quickly, as it came back positive – melanoma. I was then referred to Mr Al-Rawi to carry out the procedure, which meant cutting out the mole and the surrounding area (making sure enough was taken away to get rid of any cancerous cells). I cannot praise these consultants enough; they talked me through everything and made me feel very reassured that everything would be ok – which it was. The nurses who I saw on my appointments were extremely friendly and caring and made me feel at ease. The actual procedure to cut away the mole and surrounding cells took around an hour and was done with a local anaesthetic. From first seeing Mr Goulding to having the procedure completed was done in about a month If anyone has an inkling that something is not quite right, believe in your gut instinct and get it checked out; and if you go to Spire Little Aston I’m sure you will be as pleased as I was with the efficiency everything was dealt with.”
“I am delighted with progress having had surgery 6 weeks ago. I am back to work and able to manage lighter tasks (no splint). Strength and movement improving daily. Consultant very informative, very supportive great after care and advice which I did stick to hence today's feedback. Very pleased with my recovery would recommend as already so much better than prior to surgery. Thank you.”
“I saw Mr Shyamalan after noticing a numbness in my left hand after it had got to the point of loss of feeling and no muscle power. The surgery went well and within days of the procedure I felt all the feeling come back as well as rejuvenated muscle power and it was surprisingly quick as I felt all feeling with no numbness or tingling within a week of my surgery. I would like to thank Mr Shyamalan and all the staff for my treatment and my recovery.”
“I was initially under the care of an oncologist at another private hospital, not part of this group. He demonstrated very little regard for me and, indeed, treated me and my condition, with contempt. I complained and demanded a transfer referral. I had researched oncologists at Spire, Little Aston, it being my preferred private hospital. I concluded that Dr Anwar was the guy for me and I was so right. I was so happy after my first consultation with him (and the wonderful Gill Farringdon) that I almost cried. It was such a relief to be listened to. To be under the care of someone who considered me a person, not just a necessary evil to obtain a salary. I am regularly sent for tests such as MRI, mammograms and ultrasounds with results turning round very quickly. Any concerns are checked thoroughly. I genuinely do not believe I could have better care anywhere else. I am incredibly grateful and I genuinely look forward to my appointments as everyone I experience shows such warmth and understanding.”
“Since a previous full mastectomy to my right breast, lymph node clearance and subsequent lat dorsi reconstruction in August 2012, I observed that the natural breast and reconstructed breast were becoming more uneven as time passed. It was quite noticeable and I also had no nipple on my reconstructed breast. I was recommended to Miss Anne Dancey by another consultant I was seeing to remove a sebaceous cyst and two moles on my face. We had a consultation with Miss Dancey who explained everything thoroughly, including options available and which were possible and well as which were not. She was very candid and made me feel completely at ease. I trusted her totally. I underwent several procedures in the same operation. The required breast reconstruction - new implant in the right to replace the existing one and an implant in the left breast to match. I also had some liposuction to my stomach to provide fat for the breast work and a small amount of optional liposuction to my jawline as well as a one stitch face lift (why not!). The operation was several hours but I cannot recall the duration. Aftercare was superb. I felt as if I was the only patient there! Miss Dancey is fantastic. No pressure, no judgement. If you are not sure what you want done, she will guide you through the options and you will get superb results. I frequently get compliments on the surgical quality of the breast work when I go for check ups etc.”
