I have many years of experience in treating athletes of all abilities – weekend warriors through to elite professionals. Whatever level of physical activity you engage in, an accurate diagnosis and an individually tailored management plan are vital. From running related foot pain to rugby related shoulder pain you can be assured of the same care and attention that I give to the elite athletes under my care.

I have experience in all activity related injuries. My sports of special interest are rugby, football and boxing. I therefore have particular expertise in the management of concussion and the treatment of shoulder, knee and ankle injuries. I am passionate about my work and all patients can be assured of the highest quality of care.

I have worked in elite sport for 20 years. Up until January 2017 I was doctor to the England Senior Rugby Team and am returning to Spire Liverpool following my involvement with England at the Rugby World Cup 2015. My previous employers have included Liverpool Football Club, the English Institute of Sport and British Gymnastics.

My NHS role is as the lead clinician for the Musculoskeletal Assessment Service at University Hospital Aintree. I am a member of Council and former Chair of Education for the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine. I am also Vice Chair of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine (BASEM).

I qualified at Liverpool Medical School and am delighted to be back working in the city. I am married with three children aged 20, 18 and 11 years. My sporting ability was summed up by one of my former rugby coaches as “enthusiastic but limited”, undoubtedly a fair reflection! Outside of sport my big passion is music  - particularly 80s ska and indie. My long journeys to/from London are only made bearable by Radio 6 Music.
