I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee and hip surgery and one of the founding partners of The Bone and Joint Centre.
I qualified from The University of Sheffield and undertook my basic surgical training in the city before obtaining the Fellowship at both The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow as well as The Royal College of Surgeons of England.
My higher surgical orthopaedic training was in the Mersey region during which I obtained the Intercollegiate Fellowship in Trauma and Orthopaedics as well as obtaining a Travelling Fellowship from the College of Surgeons of Glasgow to visit Dr Leo Whiteside in St Louis, Missouri.
I was appointed a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals in 2005 where I have worked ever since as a knee and hip surgeon. During that time I have been an audit lead, orthopaedic infection lead and for five years, lower limb lead. My practice includes primary knee replacement with total, unicompartmental and patella-femoral options; revision knee replacement surgery; knee arthroscopy; and primary hip replacement surgery.
I am one of the six founding partners of The Bone and Joint Centre which is based in Spire Liverpool Hospital, which provides the highest quality of Orthopaedic care based on strong governance ethos. My private practice in The Bone and Joint Centre mirrors my NHS practice.
I co-founded The Grosvenor Club in 2008 to act as a forum for knee and hip surgeons in the Cheshire and Mersey regions to discuss advancements in orthopaedic surgery, present research projects and discussions for patients and hence providing the highest possible level of care for the regions patients.
In 2018, I was elected to the executive council of The British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK). I have published a large number of research papers in peer reviewed journals as well as presenting orthopaedic research at national and international meetings.
