I have been working as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and also working as the sarcoma Lead Clinician in Merseyside and Cheshire Cancer Network for more than 15 years.
My clinical practice encompasses all aspects of shoulder/elbow disorders, bone and soft tissue tumours and peripheral nerve injuries. I was credited by our Orthopaedic colleagues as a talented, valued and first rate Orthopaedic Surgeon with exceptional technical/operative skills following GMC revalidation and I have been invited by Consultant colleagues to join/assist complex operations on many occasions.
I have been actively involved in teaching, clinical and basic researches on shoulder/elbow/soft tissue sarcoma and peripheral nerve injuries since I started as a Consultant/Honorary Senior Lecturer, more than 50 articles have been published in the peer-review journals and I was also invited as keynote speaker in the international conferences.
I graduated from the Fourth Military Medical University (FMMU) in China and qualified in 1984. I was appointed Clinical Lecturer in 1988 and Associate Professor in 1994 in the Orthopaedic Institute of FMMU after being awarded a PhD in Orthopaedics. This Institution is one of the most renowned, largest and busiest Orthopaedic Centres in China. I went to Queen Mary Hospital, University Hong Kong for my orthopaedic fellowship after successfully being offered the most prestigious Sun Yat-sen (First President of China) Scholarship and was regarded as one of the best trainees by the President of Hong Kong Medical Association.
I came to Liverpool in 1996 working as a Clinical Research Fellow and subsequently was appointed as an Orthopaedic Clinical Lecturer/Honorary Senior Specialist Registrar in 1998. After completing my combined orthopaedic training in mainland China, Hong Kong and Liverpool, I was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon/ Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital with a specialist interest in shoulder and elbow, bone and soft tissue sarcoma and peripheral nerve surgery.
