I am a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Management at St Helens and Knowsley teaching hospitals NHS trust, United Kingdom. I am the Lead for Interventional Pain Management at the Trust and the Faculty of Pain Medicine Tutor.
I hold full registration with the General Medical Council, UK and complete regular annual appraisals. I completed clinical training in Anaesthesia and Pain management in the UK - East Midlands, Scotland and Mersey Deaneries. During my training, I completed two separate prestigious fellowships in pain management at the National Refractory Angina Centre, Liverpool and The Walton Centre.
I am one of the first pain doctors in the UK to be awarded the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine by Examination [FFPMRCA] when the exam was first held in the UK. I have been awarded the prestigious FIPP [Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice] by examination from the World Institute of Pain. I also hold fellowships by examination in Anaesthesia from the Royal of College of Anaesthetists, UK [FRCA] and College of Anaesthetists, Republic of Ireland [FCARCSI].
I’m an honorary clinical lecturer at the University of Liverpool and an examiner for final year clinical exams of the University of Liverpool MBChB programme. I am an Advanced Life Support Instructor, having taught and examined candidates since 2015. I am also an author on the Pain Management e-learning project of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child health.
I am an examiner for the European Diploma of Pain Medicine and Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Royal College of Anaesthetists, UK. I am involved in teaching and training of anaesthetists and pain medicine specialists.
I treat chronic non-cancer and cancer pain using a patient centred comprehensive multi-dimensional assessment and following evidence-based pharmacological (medications) and interventional (injections) approaches.
I perform targeted X-ray-guided and Ultrasound-guided procedures for musculoskeletal, spinal pain and other joint pains, cancer pain, visceral (internal organs) and nerve/neuropathic pain including chronic post-surgical pain according to Faculty of Pain Medicine standards.
