MBBS, MD, FRCPCH
With over 30 years of experience in paediatrics, I am a dedicated and compassionate Consultant Paediatrician committed to providing outstanding healthcare to children of all ages. My extensive tenure of 18 years in the NHS has sharpened my expertise, especially in neurodevelopmental and sleep disorders. I proudly served as a Substantive Consultant Community Pediatrician at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust for five years, where I showcased my dedication to high-quality care.
I ensure comprehensive care for children grappling with these conditions and offer the choice of medications as per their known efficacies and limitations. I provide treatment and set goals and expectations at the beginning of the consultation.
I have 30 years of extensive experience as a community and developmental paediatrician, with a foundational background as an acute paediatrician adept at addressing a broad spectrum of general paediatric issues. I have specialised in conducting autism assessments for the last five years with a child-centric approach that emphasises the individual strengths and needs rather than focusing solely on diagnostic labels. Assessments are collaborative efforts in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team (MDT). I am proficient in evaluating Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), incorporating a comprehensive analysis of rating scales, school feedback, and the overall impact on the child’s daily life and environment.
I am skilled in the prescription of both stimulant and non-stimulant medication, tailoring choices to patient preferences and circumstances after in-depth consultations with both parents and educational institutions. I also recognise the critical role of sleep management in neurodevelopmental disorders and have successfully implemented various pharmacological interventions to address insomnia, garnering positive feedback from parents for improved sleep outcomes.
I advocate for a holistic and inclusive approach to paediatric healthcare, ensuring that interventions are personalised, culturally sensitive, and aligned with the child’s and family’s values and needs. I continuously liaises with educational bodies to ensure that medical insights contribute to more effective learning and support strategies within school settings. I am committed to ongoing professional development to stay abreast of the latest advancements in paediatric and neurodevelopmental care.
