I underwent my specialist trauma and orthopaedic training on the Royal London rotation where I gained extensive experience in shoulder and elbow surgery while working at the Shoulder and Peripheral Nerve Injuries Unit at Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore and the Shoulder Unit at the Barts Health NHS Trust.
I was then awarded the Freeman prize 2013-14 and RLHOTS travelling fellowship in 2017 to the Steadman Clinic & US Olympic Institute, Vail Colorado and Harvard Shoulder Unit (Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston).
After becoming a Fellow to the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2017, I secured a prestigious fellowship at the internationally renowned Wrightington Hospital, where I was awarded the John Charnley gold medal in year 2018. Here, I worked with leading surgeons and gained expertise in the fields of shoulder surgery, complex joint replacement surgery, elbow surgery, nerve and hand surgery. I also worked at the Nottingham Shoulder and Elbow Unit and trained in conducting wide awake shoulder surgery and dealing with shoulder and elbow trauma.
I won the prestigious British Shoulder and Elbow Society fellowship in 2018 and, as part of this, gained expertise from renowned North American centres including the Mayo Clinic, Rochester and Rothman’s Institute, Philadelphia.
I developed my interest in 3D planning and the use of patient specific instrumentation for patients undergoing primary and revision shoulder replacements. I have travelled widely to further my knowledge and gain cutting-edge experience in shoulder and elbow surgery from many centres of excellence in the USA, Canada and Europe, including: San Antonio Orthopedic Center (Texas, USA), AZ Monica, University of Antwerp, Antwerp, Belgium, Tampa General Hospital, Florida USA, Roth McFarlane Hand & Upper Limb Center, St Joseph's Health Care, (London Ontario, Canada), Clinique DU Parc (Lyon, France).
My NHS practice is at the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust where I am actively involved in research, teaching and mentoring junior trainees. I have designed and led on numerous trials including portfolio studies and have published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and regularly present my work internationally and nationally. Currently I sit on the healthcare delivery committee of the European Shoulder and Elbow society.
